BLM
I took this photograph of my mother in the wake of the George Floyd tradgedy. Amongst the thougsands of instagram posts, i felt like a black tile or infographic couldn’t express how I was feeling, so I took a very simple portrait and imposed an image from a BLM protest over my mothers hair in an attempt to encapsualte the socio-political climate.

An Exposed Breakfast
Another picture of my mother shot in lockdown. I was trying to encapsulate the surrel-ness that was our strange empty & enclosed life in 2020. She is styled in a shirt which pictures Obama because I love a political jab/undertone.

Ilyas
A photograph of my friend Ilyas taken as part of a project analysing the villainisation of young black males, to the point where our secondary school had banned afro combs for being deemed as potential weapons.

On the basis of fear
These two images were taken as part of a photo series titled as above, in which I created visual responses to an audience survey detailing individuals fears. The image on the left was a response to an individual’s fear of fire, after having his house burned down in Nigeria by arsonists. The image on the right reflects someones fear of being watched.
